About Us

Host Nation is the inspiration of tourism industry hosts and professionals who felt it was time to bring the operators together to recover, connect and develop resilience in an ever-changing market.

Our Story

After two years of, lets just call it, "challenging times", two girls on the New South Wales South Coast started talking about how accommodation hosts never really got together to exchange ideas, share stories and learn about how to be best prepared for more challenging times ahead. So we created "Host Nation" based on what we'd like to learn about while getting to know like-minded fellow hosts!

We have designed this event so it is not too corporate and has lots of networking, great food and of course, great styling!

We are thrilled that television presenter Edwina Bartholomew will be hosting the event. Edwina is well versed on the subject matter as she hosts her own luxe farm stay.

As the founder of South Coast Experiences, Kate connects visitors and businesses with experiences and accommodation in regional NSW. Kate has over 20 years experience in marketing luxury products and high end accommodation and her knowledge of the industry is across all elements. Kate is quietly working on her own fixer-upper country cottage so is looking forward to tips from the experts!

Catherine Shields

As a host and property investor for the past 25 years in Sydney and the South Coast, Catherine knows the value of bringing the industry together to connect. An industry leader, she has been the Chair of Destination Sydney Surrounds South and South Coast Regional Tourism. With her background as a top creative with lifestyle media, she's aiming to create an event that is "equal parts inspiration and information".
